For the year 1766 Gilbert White recorded the natural world from january to December in one document called the Flora Selbornienis. It captured a year in Selborne's biodiversity covering not just plant life but everything that Gilbert thought needed to be recorded.
In the 300th year of his birth we are going to recreate Gilbert's record for the 21st Century, using White's documents as a guide we are inviting anyone who wishes to be involved in this scientific record of today's natural world, that we can compare with White's, to see what has changed and what remains.
This project is in partnership with The Selborne Society and The Natural History Museum.
We need you! If you'd like to part of history please let us know what day you'd like to come to Selborne and record what you see. Simply pick a day and we'll contact you to confirm.
